Weird vibe, staff are unfriendly and the seats are uncomfortable and organised like a sauna. Great set up if you enjoy making eye contact with strangers across a room. You have to ask to use the bathroom and there was no soap :( Yikes!

Very good chocolate happy cake , however the vanilla one was disgusting do not recommend that one. Have to buy a lot to sit inside but was nice enough. Service could have been friendlier and more understanding to tourists

Formerly, there were at least 5 coffeeshops within the 9 streets area; Today, there is only one - Coffeeshop Best Friends in the Huidenstraat. It is very easy to miss because it's somewhat out of sight as one has to descend steps to reach the entrance which is situated at basement level. There is a counter with a nice selection of hash and weed to choose from, or if preferred, there are half a dozen varieties of weed and 2 of hash pre-rolled joints, as well as chocolate and vanilla happy cakes. Whereas the gratification derived from smoking is fairly instantaneous, eating takes longer because of being absorbed into the blood stream; usually half an hour or more to begin feeling the effect. To the side of the counter, is a small but cosy looking locked door lounge with glass window overlooking the counter and entrance. What is seemingly both curious and ludicrous is that anyone over the age of 18, as prescribed by Dutch law, can come here to purchase their favourite smoke with no questions asked, but if you want to sit in the lounge for a cup of coffee, you are required to provide proof of identity. The place is very small so it is not recommended to come with a group. Best Friends is part of a chain and there are other branches in East and South Amsterdam. They have a very informative website which is well worth looking at

Very chill, good music and the Drinks are very inexpensive compared to other coffeeshops this central. The weed menu though isn't the best, I can recommend the Lemon Haze Hash though.

No visa, no mastercard and no Amex... Sounds like they want only cash here. Too bad we went somewhere else
