Naxos: What to See and Where to Eat

Although Naxos is not one of the most touristic islands in Greece, it is an excellent choice for those looking for a sun-drenched beach vacation. The the weather is fantastic, the food is great, and the lack of nightclubs make it a more relaxed alternative to, for example, Crete or Mykonos.

Image - Temple of Apollo
Temple of Apollo
Nína:The Temple of Apollo is probably the most famous landmark in Naxos. It is easily accessible on foot from the harbour (in Naxos Chora).
Image - Temple of Demeter
Temple of Demeter
Nína:A beautiful temple that (probably) dates back to the 6th century BC. It is located in Sangri, 30 minutes drive from Naxos Chora. An ideal sight to see if you've rented a car.

Nína:Naxos gets pretty windy at times, which is great if you're into kitesurfing.

Naxos Cruise To Antiparos & Caves Or Rina Cave & Small Cyclades
Nína:In Naxos, there are plenty of cruises to choose from, taking you to nearby islands and beaches that are only accessible via boat. I do not recommend to embark on these tours in very windy weather, check the forecast before you book.

Nína:Naxian cuisine is fantastic, and this is a great way to learn from the locals.

The Best Beaches 🏊🏽‍♀️

No matter where in Naxos you stay, there will be a pristine beach close by. Here are some of them:

Image - St'George Beach
St'George Beach
Nína:The most accessible beach from Naxos Chora. Great for swimming, sunbathing and windsurfing.

Plaka Beach
Nína:One of Greece's best beaches, some say.

Restaurants and Bars 🥗

Here are some restaurants I visited during my stay, and others that looked very promising:

Typografio Restaurant
Nína:A tad fancier than the nearby (traditional) restaurants.

Nína:In case you're in the mood for pizza.

Nína:This place offers one of the best views of Naxos Chora. Plus, good food and good wine.

Padelis Coffee Shop
Nína:Stop by at Padelis for dessert. I highly recommend the loukoumades (Greek doughnuts)
