Beach is amazing. One of beautiful local beach you could go to! Very different from Cancun if this is something you're looking for! A Mexican beach with many amazing vendors down the coast and ancient site of Mayan ruins! BRING BUG SPRAY - SERIOUSLY! Jungle is so beautiful but bugs aren't friendly.

We liked the ruins. They were neat to see and learn about, same with the culture and history. Outside the ruins, however, it's just a bit too commercial for me. I get it - people need to make a living. I just get tired of everyone trying to usher me into a shop when I'm trying to learn something new. That aside, it's still worth a trip, and if you want to do some trinket shopping, it could be a one stop shop for you. Heck, you could even grab yourself a Starbucks, if you wanted. I still recommend the ruins, however. You can't get that experience everywhere, so if you're in the area, give it your consideration.

We went on a guided excursion with local tourist that picked us up from our hotel. Tulum was an incredible place to see. The architecture of the ruins was really quite something to witness first hand, and the history lesson given by the guide was very informative. That place extremely hot and humid in a sunny day, so load up on sunscreen and bug spray. Visit the beach down below for a quick cool off if you need, just be mindful of leaving the sunscreen residues in the water. Lots of animals wandering around, even witnessed a boa grabbing an iguana...nature is scary!

Wonderful site for a little culture in your trip. The site itself is small and you will walk it in about 1hr. There is access to a small beach through the site itself. Recommend to take a change of clothes and towel for after. The heat will make you want to get in the water. Parking: beware of the people flagging you down as soon as you turn from the main road towards the site. Ignore them and keep driving all the way to the gates. Parking there will be a lot cheaper. Tours: you will have options. 1) just the site tour 2) boat tour to take picture of site from the water + snorkel of the second largest coral reef in the world. Highly recommend the boat tour, was able to swim with sea turtles, Stingrays and many fish on the reef. The whole experience could be done in about 3hrs. Some people like to do a half day here and another activity, you also can make it a beach day. Tons of local little restaurants on the beach with great food and reasonable prices.

It's a great place to spend the day. The ruins we sighted were incredible, and the surrounding natural environment is amazing. I had a beautiful experience, the guides treated us in a kind and friendly way. It's very hot in the place so it is good to bring some water and umbrella, and set aside about 2 hours a day as it takes a little time to travel the entire area
