10 Montée de Clausen, 1343 Luxembourg
A great part of a city walk through Luxembourg. Excellent maintained, though some steeper parts are necessary to traverse, generally it easy to do. Last time was about 13 years ago. The only difference is what part is being restored. In other words timeless and as clean as it was back then. Luxembourg is a great city that is easy accessible, plenty of interesting stores, restaurants and historical features mixed
Very cool to explore all the nooks and crannies. If you find an open door with a narrow staircase, just go for it and see where it ends up. Good job with added safety lighting and handrails that don't detract from the historic character.
It’s something to do in Luxembourg and it’s a heritage site too. I felt that once you have seen the view from both sides, you have pretty much seen it at that point - was just underground tunnels with openings on each side (so imagine it’s a tunnel under a bridge basically). Perhaps it is better to do the casemates with a guide so you can appreciate the history behind it, however, we were not offered one and the pricing did not suggest you could have a tour guide for extra. So was a load of tourists just walking around and then trying to find their way out. Like I said, it’s still something to do and can kill a couple of hours
Quite interesting, but hard to know where to go. We almost missed a staircase leading to a whole extra floor and saw at least one other couple standing around wondering where to go (we showed them to the staircase). All in we saw everything in about half an hour, which seemed quite quick, wonder if we missed anything.
It's a good place to visit while in Luxembourg city on a not so good day. About 7€ entrance fee and you can explore the vast complex of underground tunnels & galleries, begun in 1644 & used as WWII bomb shelters. Worth a visit if you in the area.
