Create your very own paper knife at a former traditional blade-smith's atelier
The workshop you will be visiting has a long history of sword smithing that has lasted for 250 years. After owning swords became forbidden in Japan in 1876, the workshop started working on cutting tools, but the demand for their work gradually decreased. However, using the same techniques and the same mind of never making any compromises from when they were still sword-smiths, they have now worked their way up to being nationally recognized in "hoe making."
People will learn from craftsmen of this former sword-smith workshop in Aizu how to forge iron and make paper knives, experiencing by their own hand the so-called "spirit that never rusts", the "Aizu Samurai Spirit."
