Lovely zoo, the animals mostly seem happy and healthy. My only qualm is some exhibits are rather small and older looking. Seeing these exhibits improved would be excellent. Otherwise, the animals are very energetic and clearly visible in most locations. The Giant Pandas are a must see!

Beautiful place to visit! There are Japanese exclusive animals here so if you are visiting from out of the country, check em out. The path to walk through and see birds was beautiful with all of the water lotus plants covering the entire area. Admission was low cost as well

This is a decent zoo. My daughter is a zoo enthusiast and we saw some living spaces that were appropriate for the type of animal, and some that weren't so great and more in the old style of zoo where they didn't take much consideration for the animal's environment. Some were really excellent, some were less than ideal. Interesting to see a Fossa, as they're not commonly in a zoo and are very interesting.

Need to pay for the museums and the zoo, but it's worth it because there are so many amazing sights. I do hope the other animals get bigger enclosures or companions...or get sent to sanctuaries? Honestly, it was thrilling to see them but also sad when you really think about it. The museums are gold though. Right now, there's a Dino exhibit at the science museum and there will be one on mummies this November.

Japan’s oldest zoo which opened in 1882. This is a reason I have rated more than I felt initially as have to have some perspective in relation to the age and space of the zoo, in regards to rather small enclosures for most of the zoos inhabitants, especially larger animals and reptiles. I felt a little sad, as some of the animals looked a bit sad and just pacing back and forth, but the zoo was clean and there were many school groups there, and well set up for children and families. I did get to see a couple of the adorable pandas.
