If you're in Shinjuku you have to visit this park. Immaculate grounds, great nature spaces. Massive open, but well maintained, lawns. Beautiful traditional Japanese garden area too. You can easily spend several hours in here. It costs a few hundred yen, 500 I believe for adults, but well worth the admission. Come on a nice day!

If you want a reprieve from the crowds around Shinjuku this is a good place to get away from it all. Entry is 500 yen which I guess is reasonable given what it must cost to upkeep the grounds, although I saw more beautiful grounds around free entry shrines and temples in Kyoto. The middle of autumn is probably a good time to visit when the leaves turn. A little oasis of relative peace in otherwise chaotic Tokyo.

One of the most iconic parks in all of Tokyo. I love that it's right in Shinjuku, only a few minutes away from the JR Shinjuku Station south side exit. Spacious and well-kept, the park features traditional gardens with gazebos, benches, and grassy open spaces to lay down throughout the 140-acre property. It reminds me of what the Central Park is to many New Yorkers. It gets very busy during the hanami (cherry blossom) season and the golden week, but it is indeed a place of rest for me and many others in this bustling and hustling city. Definitely was* worth the admission cost (was only 200 yen till March 2019, now 500 yen) Not sure how I feel about that to be honest... Still a great place to take your friends and loved ones. There are also shops for food and drinks and a plenty of facilities in the park. No problems for English speakers. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place to spend a relaxing morning or evening. Whole park is taken good care of. Most beautiful place of the park to me is the teien or Japanese garden. The park is huge. It's worth it to explore the whole park. Recommended to visit if you want a place to relax.

Went here on a Sunday noon in the middle of summer and surprisingly the park is quite. Not much people were there, made my visit all the more relaxing. For only around ¥200~300 you can enter this large park which can be easily accessed from bus stops/train stations surrounding it. Taking a walk around surely takes a lot of time, but it is time well spent. It also has a huge green open space where you could eat lunch, play around or just taking a nap and relax.
