A very nice temple near Ikebukuro. Traditional architecture and occasionally Buddhist chanting can be heard from the main hall.
Just like most Japanese temples I've visited -- relaxing. Makes you feel close to nature. Good place for a leisurely walk and free up your mind. Lots of tourists in recent years.
Without a doubt one of the most stunning large temples that doesn't really draw a crowd. Secluded feeling even though it's huge in just outside of Ikebukuro. A hidden gem that's in plain sight. Makes my top10 list of Tokyo temples for sure!
My wife and I had arrived in Tokyo and got to our hotel at 9am. We couldn't check in until 6pm. We wondered the streets of Tokyo not knowing what to do. Bearing in mind we also had the same clothes on our back since the 12 hour and 2 hour flights we had. Accidently stumbled across this stunning structure and it gave us the oomph we needed to explore some more. Even though we were absolutely nackered haha
Not really for sightseeing due to the attached graveyard. But a lovely place to go sit and look at the temple in relative peace and quiet.
