Piazza delle Erbe, 35100 Padova PD, Italy
The palace is an empty space (except for the enormous horse) so be ready to use your imagination to travel back to a time when the palace was a hive of activity and a bustling centre. Download a description of the wall paintings beforehand so you can appreciate the stories and meanings of the art.
For a family of 4 this is the quickest way to blow just over 30 euros in about 4 minutes! It’s basically a giant barn with some reasonably painted murals on the ceiling, a huge wooden horse and a few modern paintings. We wish we’d kept the money to go towards lunch.
Located in the heart of Padova, the Palazzo della Ragione is a medieval town hall building. Really nice palace with great wiew on the square and another place in Padua that has to be seen.
Whatever they were thinking when they decided to allow market stalls around and inside this gorgeous palace?? Can't see the facade, can't be bothered to go in because of the meat shops inside. Yes, meat shops.
The Palazzo della Ragione, a medieval town hall building, with its great hall on the upper floor, is reputed to have the largest roof unsupported by columns in Europe. The Palazzo was begun in 1172 and finished in 1219. In 1306, Fra Giovanni, an Augustinian friar, covered the whole with one roof The new space was refrescoed by Nicolò Miretto and Stefano da Ferrara, working from 1425 to 1440. Impressive and worth visiting.
