Good place to learn about the birth of the Italian republic in the European context. It all starts with the French revolution spreading though Europe. This museum is an absolute must for who wants to understand the Italian politics. The museum offer good video presentations in with subtitles in English.
Thank god I have a degree in history where I studied Italy otherwise I would have understood 0% of this museum. As it stands I understood about 2%. The rooms have no real logic to them. There’s limited explanation as to what you’re looking at and why. Also it’s more a history of France than anything else. There was an exhibition with nice pictures at the end, but as always, zero context. Too bad...
Extremely well organized explanation of the emergence of modern Italy housed in a remarkable (formerly royal) palace.
This museum is terribly hard work. I didn't get an audio guide and maybe I should have, but was advised I could read everything in English. Unfortunately the information is disjointed, major figures just appear without proper background and videos aren't much better. If you didn't have decent knowledge of 18th/19th century europe to begin with, you'd really struggle. It's basically loads of (not particularly good) paintings and some uniforms and busts, with poor explanation of both themes and events. It only gets a star because the building itself is magnificent.
Good place to learn about the history of Europe and Italy. The place is very big, if you want to explore more, be ready to spend a 2-3 hours there
