The museum is a great alternative to all the artistic and religious history. The scientific breakthroughs and contraptions throughout and beyond the Renaissance period are so interesting, and the app is really nice as a free audio guide. A star is lost because it is a bit pricey and the app only covers about 10% of items and sometimes they seemed to be picked a bit arbitrarily.

A really underrated museum in Florence. They have models of instruments from all over Europe. It was fascinating to see how they experimented/demonstrated basic scientific principles. A must visit if you are interested in history of science.

The dawning of the Scientific Age of Europe comes alive in this museum dedicated to one of the most famous astronomers ever known, Galileo Galilei. Renaissance and Enlightenment Era scientific instruments are gilt and shine throughout this museum alongside their everyday use counterparts. Part history and part practical science museum, you will be awed by what was invented and discovered in a time long before electricity and modern methods.
