Beautiful Art Nouveau lamp post. I hadn't noticed it on previous visits to Bologna, but it's really interesting. Intrigued, I went to read other reviews and discovered that it is turned on when a child is born in the municipality as it is connected to the hospital
IN BOLOGNA, WHEN A BABY IS BORN ..... A cast iron lamppost, made in the 1920s, in glass and metal, about 3.5 meters high, in Art Nouveau style, is located on the facade of Palazzo Re Enzo, in the corner with Via Rizzoli. It is said that, being directly connected to the Sant’Orsola Hospital, when a child is born, a nurse presses the button and for a short time the lamp will be lit. I don't know if it will still work with hospital problems, but since it was done, that was its function.
For all the times I have been to Bologna I had never noticed it and I did not know about its history, I had to discover it through Instagram. It's beautiful as a thing
