The National Park, Dromyrourk, Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland
Our tour guide was fun, professional and informative. The house is very nicely laid out. Fascinating to see what life 150 years ago would have been like for a well off family.
What an awesome place. Loads of different walks with stunning grounds die multiple views of the lakes. Plenty of space for the kids to roam safely. Loads of parking for cars and campers. A destination for dog owners. The grounds and walled gardens are free with paid entry for a guided tour of the house itself. A must see.
The mansion and gardens were beautiful but as a Yank with roots on Irish farms I enjoyed seeing the traditional working farm area the most, along with the tiny homes that lacked all the amenities we take for granted today. I also enjoyed seeing the traditional farm implements as my grandfather back on his farm in the States collected many of the same there. It was a good lesson for my young daughter to see her distant humble origins since she is a kid growing up in Manhattan, New York.
This house represents and shows how a very rich person can live. Some of the things in the house show the extent of luxury which was beyong my imagination. A vast living place and each room is well preserved and explained in detail. A good 3 to 4 hours must be given. Photography is not allowed inside the house, outside you would anyhow end up clicking zillions of them.
Fantastic tour. Our guide (Patsy) was amazing. Full of little gems if indi about the house, the time, the people and the locality. Everyone left with an understanding of such an amazing period of our history. This tour is 5 stars.
