A nice museum with a number of very beautiful Wajang dolls. Here you get a good idea of the types and models of howling dolls and how they are made. Worth a visit.

Pros: Surprisingly broad variety of wayang (puppet) not just from across Indonesia but also from around the world. Good learning experience for new understanding of Wayang not just to entertain but also as a means to convey values of morality, religion, even as political tool. Great historical building once serve as a church during dutch occupation. IDR 5000 very well spent. Much better than anticipated. Cons/suggestion: more info/explanation of each display in english, lighting set a bit dim for visitors to take good pictures

This place with such a great puppets collection could be better managed. The lighting, items grouping, and other facilities such as nursery room should be improved. To attract younger visitor, regular puppet show held at the ground floor is a big plus.

This museum will show you many kind of Wayang (Puppets) all around the world. This museum is located in front of the Jakarta History Museum in the Kota Tua. By paying a levy of Rp. 5,000 you can enjoy various types of puppets here. On certain days you can also watch puppet shows here. The place is not too cold and quite clean and tidy. Only a few puppets look dusty, perhaps to preserve the authenticity of the puppets themselves. You can come here by public transport and get off at the City or City Station. In this museum you can also buy puppet as souvenirs. The service is also quite nice and not too crowded.
