There are many temples in Bali and this water temple doesn't really stand out for me. Entry is cheap and they lend you a sarong. There are some ornate statues and locals going about their business, but it seemed like it was popular with tourists coming to take part in a spiritual cleanse. The way out you are forced through a maze of stores and vendors.

One of the most popular temple in Bali. You have to wear sarong here(the temple will provide it at the entrance if you don't bring it). In some area, you have to tie your hair as well. You can take a bath here. They said it is good for your health. I didn't take it because it was very crowded. I am not sure an hour is enough and they said the water is cold too.

Nice to see, huge space and incredible amount of tourists. The crowd took away the mystical feeling I thought I would find there, so make sure you get there early enough to avoid the tourist busses. Sarongs could be taken in the temple free of charge like in most temples, so don't think you must have one. Worth seeing though.

This Tirta Empul Temple is a must see place if you are visiting Bali. The nature is preserved beautifully here. The temple has holy water coming through many places throughout the year. Taking bath here is considered very sacred by the local Hindu people. Religious ceremonies are held at this temple during festival days. One of the beautiful places to be visited in Bali.

Definitely a must-see in Bali. This temple is representative of the aesthetics and the tradition of the island. As a major tourist spot, it has good and bad things. The good thing is that you know you're going to a place that has been adapted to tourists, so you're not intruding (anymore) and you can easily see the instructions and steps of the ritual and follow them so you're not disrespectful. The less good thing is that it gets quite crowded, but it's also normal since it's supposed to be a place for everyone to go and cleanse themselves and that's just part of it.
