Pros: great learning experience, not just for history buffs. Good collection of ships model, old to newer ones. Diorama of great explorers are good. Cheap, for idr 5000 you can spend a good 2-3hrs, perhaps too cheap. Serene, not congested Cons: undermantain and not updated. A lot more could n should be done to preserve and improve or expand.

Costs 5000 ringitt to enter and includes reasonable English translations in places. This place is best visited if you have a general interest in the maritime history of Jakarta. It might be not to some people's taste. It was interesting to see such a positive light put om the Japanese invasion of Indonesia in WW2

This is apparently a new location for the museum. The people there are welcoming. The renovated facility is amazing to see. However the exhibit itself is an odd collection of unmarked items. Many items not unpacked, just put on shelves still wrapped up. The collection ranges from old photos, nautical items to preserved fish in jars. Since it is not marked it's not clear why it's on display. There are so called tour guides who hustle the foreign tourists. So in summary a wierd place that could be so much more under the right leadership.

After being upgraded its facilities and contents (material), now it's a world class Maritime museum which tourists shouldn't miss. It's an interesting place to learn about world history and local history of Indonesia regarding the Maritime. Besides the ticket price is very cheap. It has 3 buildings A,B,C where each building has 2 floors with many rooms and things to see

Location for interested people. Old massive storerooms dated to historic times, when jakarta was batavia and a big dutch trade centrum.
