Exceptionally unique, must see once in a lifetime. Proud to be an Indian. All nearby monasteries are also good. Temple maintenance is very good. I felt directions inside the temple were not enough for wheel chair bound person, especially because it was raining, crowd control should improve.
The most important place to be visited by Buddhist all over the world... The tree under which lord Buddha got enlightenment is still lush and standing tall. Do visit once in your life
It is a spritual and divine place, no doubt. This is a place where Lord Buddha gets Knowledge. You can see the tree where he sat and meditate. In the temple, there is a beautiful statue of Lord Buddha. You can see many devotees sitting and meditating there. Around the temple, there is a huge garden with many sections. Phone, headset, matchbox, tobacco products etc. are not allowed there.
A lovable place for the spirituality inclined. Very famous Buddhist pilgrimage sight. Monks & pilgrims along with the tourists from the whole world come here in huge amount on daily basis. Beautiful temples, peaceful atmosphere, spotless cleanliness & vibrating spirituality give this spot a special character, a sweet & lasting remembrance for life. At least once one must visit this place & feel the spirit preferably with a guide.
Clean, beautiful, serene. Great visit. Guides are a good investment too. Our guide showed us the entire place for a nominal charge - 200 rupees. PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE! But thankfully, there is a free service available outside the temple to store the phones in lockers. But strangely enough - cameras ARE allowed. There is a charge for letting cameras inside. Around 100 or so. IF YOU WANT TO TAKE PICS - GET A CAMERA(not a phone cam). We were even offered a bottle of packaged drinking water for FREE while leaving the temple. A kind gesture which was highly appreciated by all of us(the temperature was a blazing hot 42).
