A hugely popular place with non vegetarian foodies, Amma mess has pretty personalized and attentive service. Most tourists who enjoy non vegetarian fare make it a point to visit this place when at Madurai. But the cleanliness quotient is pretty low. Since I opted for a vegetarian meal I am not sure how good the popular dishes are. The veg meal was nothing much to write about. Anyway do visit it if you wish to taste the authentic Madurai non veg fare.

An average 'traditional' outlet, that doesn't stand up anywhere near to the hype. Their famous Aira fish curry wasn't available at the time. Almost all items were overpriced big time, considering the quality of the food. Chicken pepper fry, fish fry, mutton kola and other common dishes were okay (not great). Even had a dead fly in buttermilk, it's no big deal though. 🤷🏻 Best thing was out waiter, with his impressive/ biz minded service.

One of the best place in Madurai were you get authentic madurai cuisine. Plenty of variety for non veg lovers and service was very fast and humble by staff. Must visit place

Food is good.. 2star for service... If you re looking for authentic food, won't be disappointed.,. Food taste 4 star.. Price reasonable...

Totally over hyped restaurant. Please don't waste your valuable time and money. Still you can try once if u want to say that we had food in Amma mess. Food is Good but we don't need to go to amma mess for this as huge choice s in Madurai Let me start with arrival Nobody at Entrance co ordinate and make a not of numbers of guests Once entered next to all tables people will be standing before the previous once are done and if u request server u will be allotted one table in which somebody almost completing Once we settle in a table sometimes u will get menu card else verbal menu will be told and order taken. Non veg item they will be taking in a plate and you have to choose from there Food is Good. Non veg meal and various children and mutton and fish varieties. Next coming to closure. Before we are done next group is in and we went to wash hands and table is occupied. We had to follow up many times by standing in the middle of crowd and got bills and paid. If u r planning have nice time and have lunch definitely this not the place to be preferred.
