Þórsmörk Adventure - On Your Own - One Way From Þórsmörk

Getting here is an adventure in itself and part of the way is driven in a specially equipped mountain bus that takes you into the rugged wilderness, safely crossing rough roads and glacial rivers. Arriving in Þórsmörk, the bus stops at the Volcano Huts in Húsadalur, where there is a restaurant and you can get information about the best hiking trails in the area. From there you can easily access the hiking trails and spend the day walking along marked trails in the beautiful volcanic landscape of Þórsmörk. Those who would rather relax stop in Þórsmörk will find plenty of sights close to the bus stop in Húsadalur and can even head for the sauna and small pool. Highlights:

HÚSADALUR

• The first stop in Þórsmörk, reached by crossing the river Krossá on our special mountain buses.

STAKKHOLTSGJÁ

• A beautiful, narrow, 2 km (6600 ft) long canyon with a waterfall at its end.

BÁSAR

• Well situated in between the mountain range, right beside the river. Has huts and a campsite.

LANGIDALUR

• A grassy valley situated right between Básar and Húsadalur, accommodation and a campsite are found there.
