Take a super jeep through the rough backcountry terrain on a 5-hour tour of the Majestic Dynjandi waterfall. Enjoy the scenic and picturesque view of the Fossdalur valley and a bird-watching expedition at the Audkula farm where a large colony of Eider Ducks is bred. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the shorelines and the spectacular landscapes of the "Westfjord Alps."
This journey will take us from Isafjordur through an underground tunnel to Onundarfjordur and to the beautiful village Þingeyri. Then we‘ll make our way up the steep and narrow Hrafnseyrarheidi Heath road to Arnarfjordur where the thunderous waterfall Dynjandi awaits us.
On our way back we will take route 622 and drive by the farm Audkula, where there is a large colony of Eider Ducks during the breeding season. Then onward to Fossdalur valley, along this winding dirt road with spectacularly scenic shoreline on one hand, and breathtaking mountain range often referred to as „The Westfjord Alps“ on the other.
If road and snow conditions allow, we‘ll drive up the Fossdalur valley along Mt Kaldbakur, Westfjords highest mountain (998m) over the mountain pass Kvennaskard to Kirkjubolsdalur valley to Þingeyri and back to Isafjordur. We will take the Hrafnseyrarheidi Heath road back to Isafjordur if Kvennaskard is impassable. It‘s easy to see why it‘s impossible to travel these mountain passes by car, 6-7 months of the year.
