Snæfellsnes peninsula offers a variety of landscapes.
Magical coastlines and lava fields with some mighty sea cliffs and picturesque mountains such as the glacier Snæfellsjökull, mountain Arnarstapi and the world known mt. Kirkjufell near Grundarfjörður. The Snæfellsnes peninsula is built from eruptions for thousands of years, leaving behind craters and volcanoes all the way to the big one, the Snæfellsjökull it self. The Snæfellsjökull glacier was the setting for Jule’s Verne’s novel, “Journey to the center of the Earth” and can be seen from a great distance, for example from the capital, Reykjavik.
