Kirkjufell near Grundarfjörður. The Snæfellsnes peninsula is built from eruptions for thousands of years, leaving behind craters and volcanoes all the way to the big one, the Snæfellsjökull it self. The Snæfellsjökull glacier was the setting for Jule’s Verne’s novel, “Journey to the center of the Earth” and can be seen from a great distance, for example from the capital, Reykjavik.
