Peaks Of Thieves
This backcountry skiing journey takes you to the beautiful mountains surrounding our town, Ísafjörður. On this tour, you'll enjoy panoramic views of exciting fjords and the open sea. The mountains around Ísafjörður offer the perfect grounds for skiing, both for beginners and experts.
What to expect?

We like playing outside in the cold and crisp days of winter and we invite you to come along! We meet up at our office in Aðalstræti 17 (downtown main street) at 10:00 A.M. This is where we fetch our lunch and get outfitted with gear for the trip. We depart from our basecamp via car and start driving towards Bolungarvík.

Before we arrive at Bolungarvík though, we take a left turn into Syðridalur valley. At the head of the valley, we strap on our skis and start skiing up, up, up! We head for Seljadalur Valley if conditions are good, and from the top of the pass we will skin up the ridge to the top of Heiðnafjall mountain to find a nice slope to ski down.

After a good rest, we traverse around the valley floor of Hnífsdalur over to Breiðafell and make our way up to the top. From the top of Breiðafell we ski down the mountainside that used to be a part of the old ski resort of Ísafjörðu in Seljalandsdalur. We will see what is left of the old ski lifts that were ruined in an avalanche in April of '94. Depending on the amount of snow and your interest, we can be picked up at the old ski lodge or we can ski further down to the golf course to get picked up and return to our office in Aðalstræti 17.
