We start with a visit to the world under a lava field where you get the chance to witness how the volcanoes created Iceland. Depending on the season we either visit Gjábakkahellir or Leiðarendi cave. This is an amazing hike through an ancient underground lava tube. After the hike we drive onwards to Gullfoss, the undisputed queen of Icelandic waterfalls. Gullfoss is truly a great sight with water rushing down three steps of lava layers exhibiting breathtaking power and grandeur. After a short lunch stop we head to the geothermal area of Geysir, home of the erupting hot spring. Come and watch the heated water gurgle, bubble, and escape the ground with enormous force up to 25 meters high.
Our last stop will be the famous Þingvellir National Park (en. Parliament Fields). Þingvellir is a UNESCO world heritage site and the original birthplace of the oldest existing parliament in the world. It is also the place where the tectonic plates of America and Europe meet with a clearly visible rift valley. We will learn about the Vikings and their meetings here as well as the geological forces of nature From the national park. After going through all of these must see's of Iceland, we have a short drive back to Reykjavík.

Pick-up from Reykjavík. A guided excursion of the Golden Circle including visit to Þingvellir National Park UNESCO world heritage site, the Geysir Hot Springs including the erupting Strokkur. Also a tour to the Gullfoss waterfall and guided lava caving tour including all specialized caving gear (helmet and cave head light).
Warm outdoor clothing (wooly underwear and a warm sweater of either fleece or wool), waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good warm sturdy hiking shoes and wooly socks. Winter outdoor tours in Iceland requirer you to be, well outdoors, so dress warmly, there is no such thing as too much clothes in Iceland.
