My Favorite Coffee Shops to Work From in Reykjavik

My Favorite Coffee Shops for Work in Reykjavik

When I'm in Reykjavik, I tend to work from various coffee shops and cafés in the city. I also like to mix things up a little bit and not always work from the same place.

Here's a list of my personal favorite coffee shops to work from in Reykjavik . Many of them are quite different from one another but that's one of the great things I love about these options - I choose them not only to mix things up and change my surroundings but also depending on what type of work I will be focusing on that day. If I'm doing a lot of meetings I might prefer a very different option than the day I'm wired in crunching work on my laptop.

1. Reykajvik Roasters (The one in Brautarholt 2)

These guys have the best coffee in Reykjavik. Period. They have two locations, the original one on Kárastígur is a lot more arty/hip but is not great for working (note: They don't have wifi in that location).

However, their newer location in Brautarholt 2 is an excellent place to work from with the same good coffee. It's more spacious, has great wifi connection, and is hip without trying too hard. Gives me the San Francisco coffee shop feel I love without being too busy. It's usually quiet enough to have a great working environment. Reykjavik Roasters website

2. Prikid (Second floor)

Prikid Coffee Shop in Reykjavik, Iceland

Prikid must be one of the oldest coffee shops still around in Reykjavik, located downtown on the main shopping street Laugavegur. It's a small place, but has an often-overlooked second floor which is where you could find me hanging out. I particularly like to go there early on weekday mornings, then the second place is generally pretty quiet. If you're lucky you can catch the corner table and have a great view overlooking the Laugavegur. They also have great coffe and toast. Prikid website

3. Kaffitár Borgartúni

When I need to take meetings, Kaffiár in Borgartúni is usually my go to place. It's a super confortable place with casual yet easy going atmosphere and solid coffee. Great wifi and good working space to get some work done in between meetings. It's also fairly centrally located for people coming to meet from different parts of town. Kaffitar website

4. Cafe Babalu

If you're looking for that small cozy home-feeling at a cafe, this one is excellent. It's a small yet great option with living-room style couches and sofas in a small house on Skólavörðustígur street. The second floor has usually plenty of seeting during the day and is relatively quiet to work from. Babalu website

5. Kaffi Vinyl

Cafe Vinyl Reykjavik, Iceland

This is the latest addition to my go to working cafes, a relatively new coffee shop in Reykjavik. They are small but lively, often even live music. It can get loud (particularly late in the day/evenings) there so not the place to jump on work-calls. However, if I'm looking for a place to grab a beer while working in a lively yet cozy environment, Vinyl is a great option! Cafe Vinyl Facebook Page
