This is a wonderful track , you pass waterfalls and end up with an fantastic view onto the glacier from the top. We started late afternoon and had a great light on the glacier. To watch the sundown from top was also incredible. The whole track took about 3 hours.

Fabulous beyond words. And huge. Endless hiking opportunities of all levels. Lodges throughout allow for extended through-hiking. Stunning vistas. Guided tours available for glacier walking, ice caving, lagoon sailing, etc. Whether you are just driving through on a Ring Road adventure, or spending several days hiking and exploring, you will be awestruck by the beauty and wonder if this place! Serveral visitor centers have similar & identical materials and services. Same film at both. Staff is helpful but they expect you to have done some homework in advance. Very few organized, Ranger-led activities. But tons to do on your own. Private guides and activities abound. There is a fee for entering & parking which is not well adversaries and no "ticket takers." You have to research & pay on line. If you don't, photos are sent to your rental car company and will be assessed there, possibly with a fine.

Great couple of hours walk, to both sites. The park is very well organized and maintained, with many parking places (pay on site), good information center, nice restrooms and restaurant. The 30 minutes trip to the glacier was lovely and very easy for everyone, and the views are astonishing.

This is a beautiful national Park, home to the largest glacier in Iceland. This one glacier probably takes up 10-20% of the entire island. Much to do at the park. You can take hikes from 30 minutes to 5 hours. There is a fairly easy 30 hike where you can see two nice waterfalls. Another 30 minutes leads you to an even larger waterfall. You’re able to do glacier walk with one of the tour companies. While we did not do that we found an area five minutes from the visitor center where we were able to do a hike along the glacier lagoon and start of one of the glaciers. Beautiful walk along one of the glaciers. Must be a hidden secret, as there were only two or three cars in the parking lot when we got there and we saw only two or three people along the way.
