Just an incredible experience and an absolute must stop! Do yourself a favor and see both sides. On the lagoon side you can see and hear the glacier calving off icebergs at a rapid pace, filling the bay that quickly empties to the sea with some stately ice battleships and some fantastic little crystals. On the beach side you can watch the ice come back to shore and play in the fine grained black sand. A real paradise for photographers.

Amazing, big ice cube came from glacier and sail directly into lagoon and after that directly into sea - Diamond beach.

Such a beautiful place! It was so amazing. Definitely walk out to the beach and see the icebergs that have washed back onto the shore. There is also parking on the opposite side of the street (ocean side) and there is a pedestrian trail under the bridge to get to the lagoon.

Finding a parking spot can be a little tricky. Nice rest rooms & there are food trucks even on the coldest days. Even with a full parking lot the views are not crowded.

If you are planning a trip to Iceland this is one place you should have in you list of places to go! We got married in Iceland and this was one of the trips we did. It is a long drive from Reykjavik (roughly 4 hours) but when you are there it simply takes your breath away. My mother in-law was brought to tears of joy!!
