I backpacked a low power ham radio station to the island couple of years years ago, virtually no electrical interference, perfect earth / ground and a 'Marconi' antenna at ground level. 101 countries contacted during a weekend with 12volt battery, and 5 watts cw. You get great, great burgers here too!!
