Skálafell 1, 781, Hornafjörður, Iceland
Cozy cabin, nice & warm. Very welcoming staff. Great meals - grilled lamb & grilled arctic char so yummy.
An nice nights sleep in a special location, the farm that this guesthouse is located on has existed since the end of, what the locals call, the small ice age (15th century to 1900) when the farm was at the edge of the glacier which has since receeded leaving behind the beautiful scenery. Rooms are nice and relaxing and all the basic comfort anyone could need. Dinner was farm house fare and absolutely appropriate for the setting in that it made you feel like part of the family (please leave any expectations for presentational pizzaz, beyond the kindness of the folks who work there behind you for the most enjoyment).
Nice, clean and cozy with great staff!
A very nice, quaint, and cosy place to spend the night in one of the most remote and majestic places on Earth. Only maybe 100 meters from the parking lot is a trailhead heading into the national park. This hike is truly incredible and is the perfect Icelandic experience, walking through secluded fields of sheep, and scaling a rocky ridge to get to a viewpoint of a glacier. The food here is not fantastic, which is understandable given its location, but nonetheless, it's still pretty and is freshly prepared by the staff.
Cozy hotel, perfect place to stay.
