101 Reykjavík, Iceland
Confession: I've lived here a while now and have never actually been inside the museum. BUT I've frequented the sculpture garden. It's filled with interesting, thought provoking art. I know from experience that it's a great place to go if you want to contain and entertain your toddler for a little while and it may even get your surly teen to use more than a one-word sentences.
This was an unexpected gem we came upon while walking Reykjavik. The landscape is beautiful and the sculptures amazing and thought provoking.
An unexpected gem of sculptures and other collections. The garden is particularly worth visiting.
My favourite place in Reykjavik: this garden with sculptures and the nearby museum have something magical. The garden is calm and secluded from the outside noise of tourists visiting the church. The museum is interesting and offers unexpected sights and vantage points to take further pics of the church next door. The sculptures themselves have a spiritual and exoteric touch that makes the visit all but boring. Certainly a must see in Reykjavik.
Although the images of Einar Jónsson often have a gloomy, sad or dramatic appearance, I would certainly not skip a visit to this sculpture garden.
