Eyrarlandsvegur, 600 Akureyri, Iceland
Lovely northern (free!) botanical garden. I visited in mid September and there were still lots of interesting plants to look at. Well worth taking an hour to wander through.
Very nice public park (access is free) located just outside the city centre. The botanical garden is one of the northernmost in the world and contains both Icelandic and foreign flora, with new species always being added to the collection. It is a great place to just take a stroll and relax in the middle of the green.
Very pleasant public park with free entry. Good variety of plants, shrubs and trees, especially considering how far North the garden. Very satisfying to find a free activity in a country where everything is so expensive.
Really nice surprise. This is a really large garden with lots of paths, a gazebo, and numerous different sections including an Arctic Rick garden. Huge stay of flowers even in late September.
Must see! First off, it is free. Secondly, it is so lovely that I would pay. Can spend a quick stretch the legs break or a few hours here. It was perfect to let my daughter loose to run around and be a kid while we took in the beautiful scenery and looked for the rare blue poppy. There is a cafe but we didnt try it.
