Oconee Station State Historic Site
Alka:This station is an outpost used by the military between the years of 1792 to 1799. It is also the home of the William Richards House, a trading post built in 1805. The Richards House was used to defend against attacks by the Cherokee. Oconee Station was used as a trading post for traveling settlers to trade with Native American tribes. This station was key for settlers in building relationships with Native Americans in the 18th and 19th century.

Alka:This mountain, which is also part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is located in Northern Greenville County. It was created from 1976 to 1986 and has 13 hiking trails. Caesars Head was used during the Civil War as an area where the Confederate Army rested at. Caesars Head is also one of the highest points in Greenville County

Poinsett Bridge Heritage Preserve
Alka:This is Poinsett Bridge, the oldest bridge in the state of South Carolina, and one of the oldest bridges in the southeastern part of the United States. It was built in 1820 and named after a US ambassador names Joel Poinsett. This bridge was a main point of travel because it connected cities in South Carolina (Columbia and Charleston) to the mountains in North Carolina and Tennessee. It was designed by Robert Mills, who also designed the Washington Monument.

Alka:Traveler's Rest is a small town in Northern Greenville County. It is home to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, one of the most famous trails in Greenville. The Swamp Rabbit Trail crosses through Greenville Downtown, including Reedy River/Falls Park, one of the most popular spots on Greenville. It is known as Traveler's Rest because many people driving by would stop in this town to rest before continuing their journey into North Carolina and Tennessee.

Alka:Falls Parks on the Reedy is perhaps the most popular tourist spot in Greenville. Located downtown in heart of Greenville, it serves as a tourist spot as well as place to hang out and eat at a variety of restaurants. It was founded in 1967 after the government converted the area from textile mills to tourist spots. This area is considered to be the birthplace of Greenville. As such, it holds a tremendous about of historical significance to Greenville. It is also home to Liberty Bridge. This bridge spans across the Reedy River and is built with a distinctive curve that is unlike any other bridge in the Western Hemisphere. It truly is one of a kind!

This newspaper article talks about the Reedy River BEFORE Falls Park was founded; this was when saw and textile mills occupied the area. The article talks about how the mills were affected and shut down because of the flooding in 1852.
