Our tour begins in the village of Mylopotamos, situated to the west of Kythira. Mylopotamos is one of Kythira’s oldest villages, and for this reason it has been declared a traditional settlement by the Archaeological Service.
What to expect?
Stop at: Archaeological Museum of Kythira
- We will start our tour at the castle of Kato Chora, which is located in the oldest neighborhood of Mylopotamos, about 1.3 km from where we disembark the coach. On our way to the castle, we will pass through the center of Mylopotamos, and see the old English school on the square. After we visit the castle, we will explore the old houses and numerous chapels, which were still being used as late as the 1950s. From here, you have an unrivaled view of the gorge and the sea to the west of Kythira. Surely one of the best views on the island. On the way back to the village, we will visit the impressive Fonissa Waterfall, where the water falls from a height of 15 meters.
