Unnamed Road, Ikaria 833 01, Greece
Beautiful canyon trail that snakes up into the steep Ikarian mountains. A little hard to follow at first but quickly you find your way and can enjoy the peace and quiet, nature and slowly running water. Look out for the freshwater crabs, frogs and also the birds of prey in the sky. Many almond and olive trees in the historic terraces above too.
In spite of the problems of the trail, Chalares Canyon is always one of the most popular hikes in Ikaria island, particularly the inner part of the river below the village of Profitis Elias. It's a rough terrain though, so hikers have to be quite careful.
