A Few Cool Things to Do in Oslo
kurt:Having a few hours, you can leave the station heading to the Royal Palace via the Karl Johan Gate, the busiest commercial street of Oslo. Visit the Oslo Hard Rock Cafe, turn right to the Kristian IV gate, to a cosy restaurant "Nordvegan". Continue streight to the harbor, passing the City Hall. At the seaside at the left the Akershus fortress. In the meanwhile we're walking true "the Artic Pyramid" of the "Salt village". A majestic fish rack. At the other side of the fjord we love walking on the roof of the opera house, enjoying the view, taking pictures. Downstairs you've an insight in all the different ateliers of artisans supporting the success of each creative event. A little bit further we're impressed by the new "Munch museum", an architectural artwork. Via a bridge we "walk over the water", turn left and head back to the station....Oslo in a "nutshell"... amazing.

kurt:... If you love vegan, or at least don't like to eat meat / fish... This is the place to be for a very good meal and a cosy place to stay. Comfortable service. You certainly will love the food and the ginger beer.

Image - Maridalsvannet
kurt:... A walk in the park... and a little bit further. From the center of the city, Vaterland Park, follow the Akerselva river to the Maridalsvannet lake. The riverwalk is eight kilometres long, and ... takes you via forested areas, historical buildings, fishing and swimming spots and several waterfalls. The highest waterfall is next to Hønse-Lovisas hus and the Beier bridge. You'll pass cosy "hippy and art" places, the Norwegian Business School Campus and the Technology museum to arrive at the lake. On the way back " jump in" at Nydalen Bryggeri & Spiseri, a typical Scandinavian bar, for a coffee, a "weisbrau" or a delicious meal, especially for vegetarians.
