Dzama Gorge, hidden between the valley of Kartli and Borjomi Forests, which is home to around 50 new and old monasteries, represents a sacred place for Georgians. It is also a favorite destination for jeep tours as well as for Georgian hikers.
We are going to visit picturesque Dzama Gorge and stunning Bateti Lake. Located on the northern slope of Trialeti Mountain, Dzama Gorge is just 100 miles away from Tbilisi. The gorge is home to 50 cultural heritage monuments. They include old and new churches, monasteries, fortresses, and towers. The gorge is entirely covered with forests.
In the middle there is a lake called Bateti. The lake is surrounded by a thick forest. The reflection of colorful trees creates amazing scenery. The views are simply breathtaking, and this is the best place for photography. You take unbelievably beautiful photos here. The best time to visit is during October. It can be frozen but also very beautiful after a fresh snow. It is also possible to camp in the summer.
There are long and interesting hiking routes in the gorge. Dzama Gorge is just a perfect place for a barbecue, so we have a barbecue in the forest, and share our Georgian traditions and songs with you.
