Relive the darkest hours of the 20th century and discover how life was in the capital during the German occupation, as well as the euphoria of the liberation. Your private guide will comment the highlights of the history of Paris between 1940 and 1944, the inhabitants' life during this period, and the resistance. The walk will take you to the emblematic areas of that period, including the Concorde Place and the Champs-Elysées.
What to expect?

In June 1940, the Wehrmacht invaded Paris. Under the German occupation and the government of Marshal Petain, the city lost its status as a capital in favor of Vichy, and became the seat of the German military command in France . The tour will take you to the Champs-Elysées where Allied and German armies marched and in front of many Parisian buildings that were used by the organs of the German authorities (the Kommandatur, the Department of the Navy, the residence of General Choltitz, the headquarters of the Luftwaffe ... ).

You will see how was the daily life of Parisians, the repression of the resistance as well as anti-Semitic roundups including that of the Vel d'Hiv. You will relive the circumstances of the liberation of Paris and how the city was miraculously spared.
