Al Giza Desert, Giza Governorate, Egypt
This is my favorite pyramid in Egypt. When I visited with my parents, we were the only 3 tourists there! A completely different experience compared to visiting the busy Giza Temples. There weren’t even any people hassling us to sell souvenirs or give “tours.” You can climb down 65m into the pyramid - FYI that it is pretty steep and you have to be bent down the whole time. You will get very hot, but how cool to climb inside a pyramid! If you have time to climb into only 1 of these pyramids, choose the Red Pyramid over the bent Pyramid because the inside is more interesting and easier to navigate.
Great experience. Easy access. Not for the unfit.
Great, have to go. Must go, mandatory, the best pyramid to see from inside.
144 steps up the gate, 144 steps down to the initiation chamber, then 144 steps back up to the gate and 144 more down to the entrance. The smell, the quiet air and the acoustics are enough for anyone to have a transcendental experience!
Dahshur is marvelous. Where else on Earth can one find 6 pyramids in one spot? It is also not as crowded or packed with annoying camel/horse riding sales people. The red pyramids is really amazing. From inside it is much more impressive than the Khoufou pyramid of Giza. Huge granite walls in excellent condition but the stairs going up to the entrance and then down to the burial chamber are exhausting. Do this only if you are physically fit. Take the road to view the Bent Pyramid up-close. It is worth inspecting this structure from a nearby distance. The road is also packed with nice scenery of green fields and palm trees. Fresh dry air is abound. The view of Saqqara to the north is also fantastic with even 4 or 5 pyramids on the horizon. Really worth the visit.
