Explore the jungles of Cuyabeno National Park with a naturalist guide on this 4-day, small-group tour. Overnight accommodations in traditional styles on the banks of the Aquarico River and meals per itinerary are included.
DAY 1 (L, D):
QUITO – LAGO AGRIO – CUYABENO
Flight (9:15 am) or bus (trip the night before the tour, which takes about 8
hours) to Lago Agrio. Private land transportation from Lago Agrio to El
Puente. Canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to the lodge. Visit the Laguna
Grande to swim and enjoy the sunset. Exciting night walk through the
rainforest.
DAY 2 (B, L, D):
HIKING DAY
In the morning you will go for a three hours hike in the primary forest to
learn about the flora and fauna, especially to know about medicinal plants,
frogs, insects, birds, etc. Relaxing time just after lunch, in the afternoon
you will go for a canoe exploration on the Lagoons to enjoy the flooded
forest. Where you can swim and enjoy the sunset. If conditions permit, you may
be able to see pink dolphins. Return to lodge afterwards.
DAY 3 (B, L, D):
COMMUNITY DAY
Visit the Community Siona Tarabeaya where you can see the preparation of the
traditional bread Casabe and the naturalist guide will explain about the
culture and traditions of the native people. Visit the Shaman, who will
explain about the ceremonies in the jungle. Return to camp.
DAY 4 (B, L, D):
CANOEING
Relaxing morning paddle in a traditional canoe on the rivers to explore und
enjoy the uniqueness of nature. Searching for monkeys and birds. Relaxing time
after lunch. Visit the Laguna Grande to swim and enjoy the sunset. Night canoe
expedition to search for caimans.
DAY 5 (B, L): (OPTIONAL)
CUYABENO – LAGO AGRIO – QUITO
Early morning you will go bird watching. Navigating the Cuyabeno River back to
El Puente. Transfer to Lago Agrio. Return to Quito by bus or plane (17:00pm).
Box lunch is included.
