Nicosia, Cyprus
Excellent views across Nicosia and able to see the big flag on the side of the mountain. Informative short film and historical timeline of events available to see. Lovely and cool too!
Great piece of fore thought for this building, it can give a clear picture of the city, its history and you can see the border including “no mans land”. This building helped gauge my visit and helped me gather my bearings, which was very useful for a city we’ve never visited before, there modern interactive boards and old school read them yourself info. Fully recommend and don’t forget to watch the TV show at the top.
Great place to get some good views of the city and you can also read up on the history. The interactive screens that were working are brilliant, shame about the 2 that weren't. Quite an old video of the history as well is also there (could do with being updated though from a quality perspective).
If you get a chance, it's well worth popping up for a look. Lots of history about the island, which goes back around 5000 years. Most of the history though is focused on the recent troubles of Cyprus, and the current political impasse. There is a marked contrast between the cultures of the Greek and Turkish inhabitants when observed from the top of the tower. The Green Line is also clearly visible at the border, with the border marked out by a line of dereliction...... a sad, but interesting reflection of '74; especially when viewed up close.....
Very good option to observe the city, mainly the crossing point area and a Turkish side. The Turkish flag on the background is spectacular!
