We had the privilege of being the guests of our colleagues at the Beijing Centers for Disease Control at this restaurant last week. I have to admit that of all the meals that I have had in China, this was by far the best that I have ever experienced. The host was able to give us a brief tour of the building explaining the history of the place. I believe that it was more than 300 years old. The Beijing Duck was amazing. The crisp skin served with the sugar and then the sliced duck meat rolled in a pancake with the plum sauce and vegetables were great. The other foods that were served were equally good. The fish was tender and didn't have many bones. The potatoes and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The liquor that was a part of many toasts that evening was quite good. Overall, this was an evening that I shall not forget - unless I develop some mental disease. It was worth the wait.

$$. Xianyukou Bianyifang 鲜鱼口便宜坊 is a Chinese national treasure and a 600 year-old absolutely must visit restaurant experience in Beijing for Peking Duck. They laboriously and meticulously prepared entrées and side dishes that are most authentic, that very proudly and perfectly represents Chinese Beijing cuisine. This restaurant is very popular and can get really busy, but the service is excellent and has an incredibly professional, dedicated and highly knowledgable staff that can answer any question you may have and provide recommendations too. Established in 1416, the original Bianyifang used to be a small workshop, which produced duck and chicken food in Mishihutong (米市胡同), Caishikou, Beijing. In 1827, its owner Sun Zijiu (孙子久) began to extend its business and established a bigger restaurant, where Peking Duck and Spanish and French Style Duck Liver (西法鸭肝) are its "signature dishes". Xianyukou Bianyifang in 1855 was established in Qianmen, Beijing by a Wang family, who hired a chef of the original Bianyifang. The restaurant has carried the Beijing cuisine tradition from the Qing dynasty to its modern-day form. Due to the fame of the original Bianyifang, many restaurants named themselves "Bianyifang", among which, Xianyukou Bianyifang 鲜鱼口便宜坊 is the one that exists today.

The better Peking duck experience in Beijing compared to quan ju de. Duck is great, and the other side dishes are also well done.
