I just took a cocktail class hosted by Famous Last Words and I can't recommend it enough. The theme was Roaring 20s (Gatsby!). Our host Marlene was so knowledgeable about the cocktails and the history of each it was fun to learn about the drinks we were making. Marlene also was very patient when explaining all the steps to making the cocktails as well as the reason behind why certain steps were required etc. If anyone is looking for a fun activity with a group give Famous Last Words a call - you won't regret it! And you'll get to boast about the fun cocktails you can serve this summer :)

Famous Last Words is by far my favourite cocktail bar in the city. The space is so cozy and welcoming and the cocktails, all book themed, are amazing and perfectly curated by "genre". The patio is always perfect in the summer and in the winter you can sip a cocktail by their fireplace. I've missed it over the last year and can't wait for it to open again. I recently took one of their cocktails classes during the lock-down: Roaring 20's - how apropos! Marlene, the owner of Famous Last Words, hosted an amazing night and taught us how to make Gin Rickeys and Mint Juleps. She gave us the history of the cocktails and guided us through technique, mixing and garnishing in super approachable way. It was an intimate class so everyone was able to chat, laugh and have fun. It was one of the most fun nights I've have during this last year. I highly recommend one of their classes - and they have lots of fun themes including Game of Thrones, James Bond, Jane Austen and more. I can't wait to have a cocktail at Famous Last Words when they re-open. It's a gem in the Junction.

Delicious cocktails + friendly, unpretentious service + cozy chairs in a book-themed room. What more could you want?? I've come here for book clubs, date nights, catch-ups with friends, and to read quietly by myself - the ambiance works for it all. Their book-themed menu delights me every time. Looking forward to returning to their patio when it's open again.

I loved the Great Gatsby themed cocktail class, the drinks were amazing and Marlene always adds such a fun twist to story telling and instruction. I have always loved visiting Famous Last Words and sitting at the scrabble bar, but getting to enjoy amazing drinks from the comfort and safety of home was perfect.

I had the pleasure of participating in a Roaring 20's themed online cocktail class hosted by Marlene. I have enjoyed the delicious cocktails at Famous Last Words and thanks for Marlene's easy to follow directions was actually able to create two heavenly drinks myself. The class was well paced making it easy to follow along while enjoying lots of conversation and laughter. Marlene shared insights into the history of the cocktails we made as well as the novel that served as inspiration,The Great Gatsby. Highly, HIGHLY recommend these classes, would be perfect for a work team building activity or, as was in our case, a way to friends to re-connect and have a REALLY great night. Thank you Marlene for crafting such an amazing evening - truly a bright spot during such trying times.
