Honda Celebration of Lights is the event you should not miss if you are in Vancouver this time of the year happens in every year in summer to be specific July last week and August first week..

On a sunny day it will go hit especially with kids and could keep you engaged with beautiful sunset and people around by the sea walls and scenic view of ocean by the side

This is a beautiful area where you can stroll directly from the laughing statues on to the Bay front and then just keep going if you're up to it as it'll lead you around to Downtown Vancouver water front and Canada place. Effectively it goes around the whole of Stanley Park (circa 10 kms). It is a lovely area to just wander along and an area where you can get a fair bit of exercise if you choose to do a goodly part of the above. Though mostly flat and lots of bikes around albeit in a separate lane.

This is a beautiful location for spending time on the beach, watching sunsets, swimming and partying. Also, this is where you view the fireworks in the summer.
