Absolutely brilliant place to spend a day. We hired kayaks and loved viewing the amazing houses from the waterfront. Felt very safe on the lake. You are provided with life jackets. Family friendly too. There's also green areas on the banks where you can picnic - there are private gardens too but they are obviously. Loved our afternoon.

Alta Lake is a very good picnic place in summer. We were here in June 2018. There were lot of families hanging out in the park. We saw people with kayaks, canoes and paddle boats in the lake. You can swim in the lake too. The water on the shore is shallow and so this seems to be a perfect place for kids to play in the water. There is good size parking lot and bathroom facilities. If you like hiking you can go on nice trails around the lake as well! And if you are into photography, or just enjoy being in the nature, the views around the lake are breathtaking! Very green mountains all around. In fact some gorgeous snow capped mountains, although far off, are visible even during summer. Very picturesque!

What views. Its heavenly. Take a hike or rent a cycle to the place and enjoy the views in every season. When sunny, its a great place for a picnic. You might also get sights of a wild bear on the way just like I did.
