If you have a spare day in Sofia climb the mountain to experience this beautiful place. The rocks are said to have resulted from an extinct volcano, the river that runs underneath the rocks has sand containing gold. Hence the name - Golden bridges.

It's a very good hiking spot, not far from Sofia, you can get there by a bus. The trail is fairly easy and there are a lot of places you can stop for a drink or food on the way. Just make sure you check the weather before you head in too deep, otherwise you might get caught by the rain, like it happened to us. Won't forget that experience too soon.
