One of my favourite cities on earth I truly believe there is something for everyone here - from cosmopolitan sky bars to the Thai culture and old temples. It’s a wonderful place to discover.

Eats/ Sleeps/ Visits

Image - Vertigo
Samantha:From the moment you step onto the deck your breath is taken away, the Moon and Vertigo bar at the top of ‘The Banyan Tree hotel’ is as spectacular as it comes. One of the tallest sky bars with 360 degree views across Bangkok, I have spent many hours here in the best - note that the drinks are far more expensive but it’s worth it to experience the view!

Wat Pho (Reclining Budha Statue)
Samantha:I don’t think this photo does it justice but this was one of my favourite temples in Bangkok - far quieter than the overrated Grand Palace with the largest gold reclining Buddha you will ever see. Make sure to dress appropriately.

Cabbages & Condoms
Samantha:Do not be put off my the name or the photo above - this is my favourite restaurant in Bangkok and the outside is stunning! You sit amongst trees filled with fairy lights and traditional Thai music - the atmosphere is incredible and the food is out of this world! My highest recommendation is to go here!

Chatuchak Weekend Market
Samantha:Only a short hop outside the city by sky train, its held every weekend and is a shoppers paradise! Yes you’ll find your normal tourist tat but there are some fantastic pieces to discover too. I bought the most beautiful handcrafted mugs and embroidered skirt here!

Yaowarat Road
Samantha:Also know as CHINA TOWN a street food paradise and where I ate most evenings. Even if you just check it out for the atmosphere make sure you go, cheap to get there by Uber or water taxi.

Inn a day
Samantha:Food or Stay? If you’re looking for somewhere off the beaten track then Inn a day has so much to offer, next to the locals market and old temples its perfectly placed if you’re looking for culture. I stopped here for food the first time (one of the best lunches I’ve had) and super economical- if you decide to stay here you’ll have a view over the river of Wat Arun! Not only that but it leads off down the back of traditional housing where most the locals live so you get a better sense of the real Bangkok.

Samantha:The perfect day trip out of the city is to the ancient city of Ayutthaya.

Samantha:A short hop across the river this temple is most spectacular at sunset!

Samantha:On the pricey side of the hotels in Bangkok but the views from the rooptop pool and spectacular- a great photo spot.

Pak Khlong Market Flower Market
Samantha:The traditional city flower market where all the businesses buy their flowers, have a walk through and see how the market works it’s fantastic.

Hotel Clover Asoke
Samantha:A great place to stay while in the city if you’re looking for something economical - they have a great location by the station, shops and restaurants- they also have a pool, roof bar and lovely comfortable rooms. Breakfast is included and there’s a 7/11 on site (plus the owners always let us check in early!)

Samantha:Worth the visit even if it’s just to check out the fabulous glass ceiling!
