Matthew Town Clinic is the only health facility on the island. It is not a hospital but is sometimes regarded as such. It offers limited services. It is easy accessible by air or by sea since it is on the coast. There is one resident doctor, a nursing officer and a registered nurse and additional ancillary staff. They are very friendly people and are known personally in town. The clinic is spacious, clean and cool in the hot weather. Should there be a need for tertiary care (or anything that requires further emergency care), referral is made from the public health system to the main facility in Nassau, New Providence.
