Really great menu, including plenty of vegan items if that’s your thing. The bacon is worth having on its own. Staff are pretty friendly and service is good. They make their own baked goods. Serving sizes are pretty generous. Well the avo toast is. One of my favourites in Marrickville.
Ordered a take away SOY cap. Drinking it on the way home I think it tastes different. Look at the lid and theres no “Y” or “soy” on there. Stomach cramps all afternoon tell me it was definitely not soy. I gave 3 stars because I’m sure they would have fixed it and re-made my coffee if I had clued on straight away.
An understated contemporary riff on a 50's dinner. A welcoming counterpoint to house-of-discipline Coffee Alchemy over the road, which seems to thrive on making you doubt you're worthy of their brew. Quiet style (loved the linoleum!), a whole free jug of lightly carbonated water... and you know what? their Matineee branded coffee tasted GREAT. Only quibble: the idea of a cinnamon pretzel conjured up a perfect light accompaniment, but the actual item was drowned in too much sugar syrup for my taste. 5 stars anyway: care breeds forgiveness!!
The highlights: Our Burger, Pasta and Reuben were good with decent serving sizes. The cafe is cute, spacious and had a nice layout. The downside: The Chai Latte was bad, it just tasted like sweet milk. The service was a bit of a let down as we had to seat ourselves, had to get our own baby chair, they couldn't recall our orders, etc.
Stumbled upon this place while looking for a different cafe. Decided to pop in as it was busy and had a nice vibe. I’m glad I did - the food was fresh, delicious carrot cake and coffee was decent. Best part was the staff who were friendly and attentive.
