Perito Moreno 95, Z9405 El Calafate, Santa Cruz, Argentina
Had been in Argentina for 4 days and not had a decent meal and found this place recommended by our taxi driver and well rated on TripAdvisor. Finally we had a good meal. The place was packed so definitely book in advance, they were turning people away. The menu is based around sharing plates, there are a few dishes for one, but we went with the recommended beef stew to share (a disco) and it was fantastic. There is a rich stew of vegetables topped with roasted potatoes and a steak cooked to your liking and it was perfect, really tasty and lots of it. Ordering wine was an experience as they have a room full of wine, each with a price tag and you just go in and choose what you want whenever you want and they come to the table to open it. Service was great and price was good so if in El Calafate, don't miss it.
Food was amazing! We would have come back the following day but had a flight to take. The owner came around and he was very friendly. I would have given 5 stars but the two waitresses that served us were not as warm as the owner. Didn't care if we could get on wifi. Didn't explain clearly about ordering wine. Just seemed like she cared less if we ate or drank. Oh well can't expect everyone to be nice!
“I love coming here because it reminds me of sweet times . ... “Great food, great job. ... “Exquisite as usual. ... “Excellent. ... “Lovely food, superb service, clean, accommodating, gracious and so wonderfully refreshing. ... "This was our first visit on a recommendation
Lamb was a bit boney and tougher than other places in town. Rest of stew really nice though. Kids play area was a nice touch. Wine by the glass only red or white, no rose. Waitress a bit unfriendly, there's better places in town
Food was the best we have had in a long time in South America. Prices we very reasonable. The discs are seasoned and cooked well. You get to pick out your wine from their wine room and the prices a clearly marked. Tip: ask to be seated away from the kids play area it is noisy and ruins the ambiance. Tip: If you are the one bringing kids ask to be seated by the kids area so not to take up the quieter tables in the restaurant.
