Places To Stay

Here are articles to provide ideas for hotels or other places. I definitely recommend booking a place at least 2 months ahead or even earlier if you're coming during peak season. The most reasonable accommodations are booked quickly leaving the more expensive or meh options.

Street Art in Reykjavik: A Colourful World
Isa:Don't forget to stop inside Brauð og Co on Frakkastígur (their building is the main image) to try their delicious rolls/snúðar. Kanil snúður/cinnamon roll is the classic but there are other flavors for everyone. I personally also love the pretzels, pretzel croissants and kanil croissants..drooling as I type. ** The last mural on Vesturgata 55 by Guido Van Helten is no longer there but there is another mural in its place that some consider to be equally eye-catching.

The Lopapeysa Culture: 5 Reasons to Buy Typical Icelandic Wool Sweater
Isa:If you’re looking for something to buy on your trip, I recommend an Icelandic sweater - Lopapeysa. These are the best to keep you warm and dry even in the worst weather. Did you know it’s self cleaning and mostly waterproof and doesn’t burn? It’s magic. It may seem pricey but it’s a long lasting investment and never go out of style. Make sure it’s made in Iceland so probably not 66 North shops. Stop by The Handknitting Association of Iceland (FlyOver Iceland also sells their sweaters). You can see the number ID of the person who made it on the tag. Also, Litla Prjónabúðin or even some of the guesthouses or gas stations will sell local sweaters/peysur. If you want to save, check out the second hand stores too. You won’t regret it!

What to Wear in Reykjavik during Autumn and Winter
Isa:If you are not going to a glacier or mountains, it's safe to say you can leave your snow pants and gear at home. Reykjavík weather is rainy and windy but quite timid in temperature. Wear layers and bring a winter/rain jacket with a pair of comfy shoes with some traction.
