Rruga Mihal Komnena 5001, Berat, Albania
A must-see place if you are in Berat. The village inside the castle has been inhabited since 6 BC and is just something you will never forget!! In case you are hungry/thirsty there are some local restaurants/bars where you can buy food and drinks. However come with comfortable shoes and a bottle of water for the fairly steep way up.
Beautiful place and lots of history. Is worth visiting. Only one thing I didn't like was that they didn't give us a brochure so we could know more about the places we visited inside the castle. We met the locals who still live inside the castle and they where very friendly, we asked about how is to live inside the castle nowadays, beautiful. Price was fair. We had a very pleasant day visiting Castle of Berat and really enjoyed this trip.
Interesting and fun to walk around. If you have a car you can drive all the way up. Parking available, at least in October. Onufri Museum recommended if you like icons.
Beautiful city and old buildings and houses. Very nice to visit during day and also at night. The castle has a nice position and during night you can easly see the roads that lead to the city of Berat.
Berat Castle is a big ruined castle compound located on top of a Hill. Inside the compound are lots of separated partly ruined houses and old rock- made building architectures of Byzantine Churches, Red and White Mosques , Ethnographic Museum , open air Bazaars, Restaurants and Bistros and some native people selling and displaying traditional handmade handicrafts and souvenirs.
